Manimuthaaru Falls

The Manimuthaaru falls will falls through 365 days a year. They create by the waters of the Manimutthar River, which originates in the Western Ghats. The Manimuthar River begins from the Eastern slopes of the Western Ghats located near Kutralam, The river is the chief tributary of the Thamiraraparani River. This place doesn't get as many visitors as its famous counterpart Coutrallam. But the bathing experience is similar and more fun than at Coutrallam owing to less crowd. The less crowd is due to the location of the place. This needs a entry permit (paid on arrival), and there is a one-way path to the falls from the gate (a distance of ~5KM). But it's worth the time spent in travel as you can bathe to heart's content. Downside is that there are no eateries nearby (nearest eatery is ~10KM away).

There is no risky place for kids. It is suitable for all age groups. It is danger free falls.

Agasthiyar Falls

The Papanasam Falls, also called the Agasthiyar Falls near Papanasam, is located near Coutrallam flowing in the enchanting rain forests of the Western Ghats. It is situated at a distance of 35 kilometres from Tenkasi, at the bank of Thamirabarani River. Papanasam Falls drop down from a height of 120 metres. The name is derived from the word ‘Thamiram’ in Tamil meaning ‘Copper’. The copper content is said to be maximum in the water. Papanasam also means absolution of one’s sins, it is believed that a dip in the holy water will relieve the pilgrims of their sins.

The place is adored for its beauty and religious significance. It is also known for the rare kinds of herbs found (around 108) in the area.

Kalyani Theertham

It is the starting point of Agasthiyar falls and the Tamirabarani River, sort of a small lake surrounded by walls of huge rocks with ancient sculptures on them, few small temples and the Sadhu Krishnaveni Ammal ashram. This place is much more beautiful than Agasthiar falls. The water over here is crystal clear and appears to be much cleaner. People are allowed to take bath in the stream but not allowed to reach up to waterfalls due to security reasons. Kalyani Theertham is located at about 4 kms from Papanasam on the hilly terrain near Agasthiyar falls. One can reach the Agasthiyar falls and Kalyani Theertham by trekking a distance of 3 Kms.
